Kyle Benton

September 14, 1976 — August 20, 2018

Kyle Colby Benton, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at his home on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the age of 41. He chose to end his life after having experienced a great deal of grief from the untimely loss of both of his parents and battling an unimaginable number of demons and depression for several years.

He was born on September 14, 1976 to Robert and Janice Benton in Ogden, Utah, the second of three children, and grew up in Kaysville, Utah. He attended Davis High School and became an accomplished guitarist, graduating in 1994. He married Leila Denae Krotke on March 11, 1994 in Evanston, Wyoming. He spent his career working with his father in the family drywall business and successfully helped run the business for many years, often referring to himself as “Lord of the Sheetrock.”

Kyle enjoyed playing guitar and wrote many of his own pieces, following a passion for music throughout his life. We will miss his very quick wit and his ability to make people feel at ease with his slapstick humor.  He had a love for fishing, spending time with family, and was a lifelong devoted Utah Jazz fan.

Kyle is survived by his wife; five children, Keri, Colby, Anna, David, and Katy; siblings Joe Rob (Jennie) Benton of Layton, and Brandi (Bret) Hamblin of Roy. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
