L. Lawrence "Larry" Child
1927 ~ 2014
L. Lawrence “Larry” Child, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
He was born in Clinton, Utah to Leslie L. and Viola Butler Child. He called Clinton “Home” all of his life. He grew up on a farm with two brothers and one sister. He always enjoyed working with horses and cattle. He graduated from Davis High School.
In 1949, Lawrence married Virginia Mayberry in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had one daughter and three sons.
He retired from HAFB in 1982. He also worked many years doing carpentry. Larry enjoyed going to livestock auctions, visiting with friends and family, raising birds and Boston Terriers. He loved his church, his country and freedom. Grandpa loved the grandchildren often saying, “I can’t figure out how Virginia and I got the best lookin’ grandkids around.” Dad loved to camp and hunt; especially enjoying horse pack trips into the Uintah Mountains to fish the back country lakes.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 2012 and a grandson. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Walt) Flint, sons, Garth (Am) Child, Reed (Gay Lynne) Child, Ted (Janet) Child, 17 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Spencer (Janet) Child, Don (Maxine) Child, sister, Veta (Edgel) Bailey, and sister-in-law, Janet Child.
Thanks to all family friends, and caregivers.
Farewell until we meet again.
