LAYTON a€" L. Read Tolman, 88, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 22, 1922 in Layton the son of Ora Eugene and Hazel Dell Read Tolman.

Read married Margaret Jones. She preceded him in death. He married Connie Beazer O''Brien.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

Read loved to tinker with anything mechanical and travel. He loved being with his family and sports.

Surviving are his wife Connie, four daughters, Cristie Dobson ( John Hansen), Clinton; Cindy (Joe) Freiburger, Las Vegas; Valerie (Richard) Millis, Clearfield; Leslie Bryson, Layton; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one brother, Ez Tolman, Clearfield.

With his marriage to Connie came four other children Joanie Shinkle, Kelly O''Brien, Doug and Lisa O''Brien, Holly and Wayne Johnson and seven grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Margaret, two sisters, two brothers and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden.

The world has lost a gentle man and a gentlemen.
