LaDean Sproul Snow

LaDean Sproul Snow 1926 ~ 2008 LAYTON – Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, LaDean Snow, returned to her Heavenly Father, September 6, 2008, following a lingering illness. LaDean Snow, 82, was born January 21, 1926 in Groveland, Idaho to Angus Sproul and Rella Elison Sproul. She was the oldest of five children. She attended schools in Idaho until her family moved to Utah where she graduated from Provo High School. She attended L.D.S. Business College. She served an LDS mission to Southern California where she met Richard Craig Snow who was also serving in the same mission. They were married August 7, 1953 in the St. George Temple. They became the parents of six children and 25 grandchildren. LaDean faced multiple physical challenges throughout her life. She had many brushes with death and was fortunate to have a large family and a long life. She was good at managing money and had a common sense approach to life. She belonged to Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was a founding member of the Prairie Schooner D.U.P. camp in Layton. She was a devoted homemaker, had beautiful handwriting and loved handiwork. She was active in the LDS church serving in many callings throughout her life. She was involved in Primary, Mutual, and Relief Society presidencies and served two Stake Missions. She loved those she served and those with whom she served. Her favorite calling was teaching the Relief Society Spiritual Living lesson. She served as Stake Primary President and loved the women on her board. She was a part of the “greatest generation” having lived through the Great Depression and WWII and lived frugally, honestly and with integrity. Her children will always remember her for her work ethic, the smell of her homemade bread, her sense of dignity, and her words of wisdom. She would want her grandchildren to know that she loved the gospel, education, and music. She is survived by her husband, Craig; children, Terry (Rick) Sheffield of Layton; Richard Alan (Susan) Snow of Alexandria, VA; Paula (Brad) Garret of San Jose, CA; Steven (LuAnn) Snow of Layton; and Diane (Mike) Farmer of Layton and her sister Barbara Garrick of Salt Lake City. She has two grandsons currently serving LDS missions. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Rella Rooney, Kay Sproul and Vernon Sproul as well as an infant son, Randy Snow and granddaughter Shantel Snow. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Valley View Park Ward, 789 E. Wasatch Dr., Layton. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. She was dearly loved and will be missed dearly. Our family would like to thank Vicky Wells from IHC Hospice for extended service and kindness in an effort to make LaDean more comfortable and the end of life experience more peaceful.
