OGDEN a€" LaMar W. Barker, 90, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his home in Ogden of causes incident to age.

He was born March 17, 1921 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of James Clifford and LaVina Wells Barker.

On December 19, 1941, LaMar married Ruth Sheffield in Logan. Ruth preceded him in death on September 11, 2005.

He was raised on a farm in Bear River, Utah. Following his marriage to Ruth, he served with the U.S. Army for over three years during World War II. Following his discharge, they made their home in Ogden.

LaMar was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest and served in various organizations.

He worked for Defense Depot Ogden for over 35 years retiring in 1976.

LaMar enjoyed golfing and coin collecting. In his later years, he was an avid reader.

Surviving are two sons, Paul W. Barker, Petoskey, MI; and Brad C. Barker, Pleasant Grove; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Les Maddock officiating.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
