LaMar Van Hoskins
“Together Again”
Our loving Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Friend, LaMar Van Hoskins, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2013. He was born in Preston, Idaho, the son of Elijah Van and Theresa Westover Hoskins on March 19, 1927. LaMar was raised in the fields of Idaho. He later moved to Ogden and settled in Layton.
He served in the Marine Corps as a Private during World War II.
LaMar married Bonnie LuRae Bird on November 27, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bonnie passed away on April 4, 2013.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
LaMar worked as a carpenter in the construction industry. LaMar loved helping others in need and enjoyed church activities. His favorite thing to do was shopping at Lowe’s and Home Depot.
LaMar is survived by his son, Paul Hoskins, Layton; daughters, Vonna Cassidy, Spokane, WA; Terry Allen, and Connie Sim both of Ogden; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, brothers, Conel, Larry and Keith Hoskins; and sister, Helen Hoskins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; son, Michael Hoskins; grandson, David Sim; great-granddaughter, Kylee Sim; parents, sister, Norine and brothers, Verlan and Raymond.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
