Lamont Dee Harris, 1938 ~ 2020.
A stalwart in the cause of freedom.
Lamont Dee Harris passed away on June 9, 2020 at age 82 in Bountiful, Utah, due to complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born to Spencer Anderson Harris and Arlene Patterson Harris on June 3, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, and raised and educated in Layton, Utah. He married Carolyn West on July 6, 1964 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
During our brief time we have in this life we leave a legacy. His legacy was his passion for freedom and his deep commitment to our Savior, country, and his family. He faithfully served an LDS mission in Japan and he often expressed his love for the Japanese people. Lamont remained a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his country in the Air Force until his service was cut short by the consequences of appendicitis. He married Carolyn June West soon after being honorably discharged from the Air Force. He was a gentle and compassionate father and husband. He made Bountiful his home for the last 29 years.
We wish to give heartfelt thanks to all who cared for him at Country Oaks Assisted Living, later renamed Country Home Assisted Living, where Lamont chose to spend the past six years. We also are deeply grateful to the LDS Bountiful 9th Ward for their loving concern and support during this time. Lamont and his family have been greatly blessed by their membership in their many LDS wards.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty Jean (Eric) Swedin, South Weber, Utah; son, Todd Tomas Harris, Salt Lake City, Utah; and six grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, son, Nathan Andrew Harris, parents, sister, Elaine, and brother, Steven.
