Lance H Youngberg was born September 4, 1960 to Darlis Potter Youngberg and Lorna Helmandollar Youngberg in Ogden, Utah. After a long struggle with cancer Lance passed away December 2, 2022 in Waterloo, Iowa.
Lance was the youngest of Darlis and Lorna’s four children. He lead a life much different from his siblings. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia in his teens and this led to a life marked by substance abuse, difficult marriages, and children who were incapable of understanding him. His illness and life choices caused him much heartache and estrangement from his family and siblings.
Aside from his struggles Lance was an intelligent and kind person at heart. He had a wicked sense of humor. He was known in his community as a first-rate handyman and had helped many people with their home projects. He had wonderful friends in Waterloo who were very supportive throughout his illness. We are very grateful to them for letting Lance know that he was loved and not alone.
Lance is survived by his sister; Peggy O’Connor (Bob) and his brother, LaMont Youngberg (Nickie); his children, Mia, Montie, Otto, Noah and Alisa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Youngberg.
Graveside services were held on December 30, 2022.
