Our beloved LaRae Bateman, sister, aunt, of Hooper, Utah was reunited with her mother and father on Friday, August 26, 2011, one day before her 82nd birthday.
LaRae was born August 27, 1929 in Burley, Idaho to George Albert and Ivy Myrtle Garside Bateman. She was the youngest of 10 children.
She became ill with Spinal Meningitis at the age of two. When she recovered she had to learn to walk again. When she was well enough to travel the family move to Ogden, Utah. LaRae attended Sacred Heart Academy School in Ogden for Special Needs children.
The family lived on 24th Street for several years. LaRae loved to go with her mother to do the laundry and fold clothes when she was needed. Her father then bought a home in North Ogden, where she loved to work in the yard helping pick fruit and helping her mother with the flowers.
LaRae lived with her sister Dean Hammon in Boise, Idaho for 20 years, where she has many friends who are special to her. In 2000 LaRae and Dean moved to Hooper, Utah to live with her niece, Jan Pollard. They have been able to spend more time with their sisters who were in the Ogden area.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served in the nursery in her ward and loved it. LaRae had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and those principles were the guideline in her life.
LaRae is survived by her sisters, Dean Hammon of Hooper, and Muriel Maw of Uintah. Also surviving her is her niece, Jan Pollard and many nieces and nephews who hold a special place in their heart for LaRae.
Her family extends a special thank you to the staff at Lomond Peak Care and Rehab Center for the wonderful care and the very special warmth you always gave her the past 2 years.
