LaRene Nobuko Yamashita SALT LAKE CITY - LaRene Nobuko Yamashita, 84, a loving wife and mother, joined her dear husband, Joe, on Thursday, April 7, 2011. She died at home in Salt Lake City surrounded by her family.
Born on July 2, 1926 in Clearfield, Utah to Banshichi and Ito Kano, she lived most of her life in Ogden.
She is survived by two sons, Alan (Jean), Lindsey (Jeannie); two daughters, Becky (Steve) Tachiki, JoLene (Brent) Shimada; three granddaughters, Kacie (Jay) Tachiki Turcuato, Jeanna (John) Tachiki Ryan, Alexis Shimada; and brother, Dale Kano (Jane).
She also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, and many nephews and nieces who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by brothers, Russell, Ray, George, and Kay.
Her family was the center of her life. Everything she did and sacrificed was for her children. She looked forward to family gatherings around the dinner table on Sundays. Like her children, she spoiled her grandchildren, always having their favorite bakery goods and sweets available for them. Fruit cake and oatmeal cookies were some of her specialties. After her children were grown, she occupied her time working in the bookkeeping office at Wangsgard Drug Center in North Ogden for approximately 15 years.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 Fairfield Road.
Friends may pay their respects to the family at the mortuary on Monday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, April 12 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The Yamashita family would like to take this opportunity to especially thank Betty Yamashita, Home Option Personal Care, Eclipse Home Health, and Silverado Hospice Care and Wasatch Dialysis Clinic for their care and support of our mother over the past several years.
