LaRita Rees Hancock

1933-2015

Bountiful – LaRita Rees Hancock (81) passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at home in her sleep.

LaRita was born November 25, 1933 in Upalco, Utah to Moroni Dee and Vergie Pectol Rees. She married her love and best friend Keith Hancock on February 2, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were happily married for 62 years and had eight children.

LaRita is preceded in death by Keith, her parents; two brothers, Jim and Richard; and children Linda, Steve, Jeanie and Vaughn. She is survived by brothers Ron (Ruth), Dennis (Terri) and Joe (Jana); sister-in-law, Arleta Joy (Bob) Stevenson; children Eldon (Vicki) Hancock, Judy (Mark) Williams, Dave (Julie) Hancock, and Gene Hancock. She was blessed with 24 grandchildren: Vaughn, Lutisha, Mark, John, Chris, Staci, Brandon, Steven, Ammon, David, Kenny, Kyle, Jamie, Jason, Shane, Zac, Jake, Mike, Nathan, Kami, Lance, Brad, Ashley, and Jacob; and 42 great-grandchildren. LaRita was dearly loved by her grandchildren and each had a special relationship with her.

LaRita had many interests and talents. She enjoyed painting and beautiful artwork. She got such joy from her collections of music, dolls, nutcrackers and the pictures that filled her home. She served in many church callings throughout her life including Relief Society President and Primary Teacher.  She and Keith enjoyed spending time at their cabin with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Oak Hills Ward Chapel, 455 S. 1200 E., Bountiful, UT. Friends may visit family Tuesday, June 9 ^th , 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., and from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
