Larry Blaine Gibson

May 18, 1952 ~ December 13, 2014

Larry Blaine Gibson, 62, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 of cancer.  He was born on May 18, 1952 in Ogden, Utah, to Blaine Archibald and Carma Anderson Gibson.

He married Linda Ann Smith on April 4, 1975 in Ogden, Utah.

Larry worked for Utah Department of Transportation for over 30 years before retiring.  He also worked at National Coatings and Supply for the last eight years.

Larry always said he traveled all over the world and some parts of West Weber.  He lived in West Weber most of his life, only moving to Plain City during his school years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but was not active.  He knew how to be a good Christian and he would do anything for anyone.  He was especially fond of his two grandsons, Austen and Kolbie.  He loved to tease them and expected it back.

He was into horses growing up.  He was a natural with them.  He was a fabulous rider and could make a horse perform like no other.  He also showed them in the ring at horse shows, winning many trophies.

He joined the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and along with Linda traveled all over the Western States shooting trap.  He delighted in watching and even shot trap himself at times.  He shot his first 100 straight at the Grand American Trapshoot in 2006 and so did Linda.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Ann Smith Gibson, Ogden; sons, Travis (Suzanne) and grandson, Austen; and Cody (Shelley) and grandson, Kolbie; adopted daughter, Kathy (Rich) Verhaal; sister, Sheri (Doug) Clark; brother-in-law, William F. (Reta) Smith; many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Missy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
