Larry J Hales, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Larry was born on October 7, 1933, the last of eight children to Orvil W. Hales and Mary Ann Jenson. He was raised mostly in Ogden, Utah with a couple of years in Cobry, Nevada while his father worked there on the Railroad.

He graduated from Ogden High School. While in high school he was introduced to LaVerne Butters who was the sister to Gertie, his brother, Wendell’s wife.  They soon eloped to Nevada and were married on May 7, 1952. They were blessed with a wonderful marriage of 65 years.  LaVerne preceded him in death on August 7, 2017.

Larry worked for American Linen Supply Company in Ogden Utah for 15 years. During that time, they had three children, Lori (deceased), Christine, and Paul.

They moved to Pleasanton, California in 1968 where Larry managed a Kentucky Fried Chicken for 10 years and then finished out his working career as a Real Estate Agent.

Upon retirement, they moved back to Ogden, Utah in 2004 where they enjoyed time with family, the beautiful view from their deck every night, their daily evening rides, Ice Cream at Farr’s Creamery and their breakfasts at Dennys.

Larry was a good, honest, hardworking man, a wonderful husband and a dedicated father. He will be missed for his sense of humor, his love of music and cars, and the many flashlights he gave to all!

But we couldn’t be happier to know he is finally with Mom and Lori. He is survived by his daughter, Christine (Joseph); his son, Paul (Marianne); 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
