Larry Leishman Montgomery

December 1, 1932 ~ April 4, 2015

On the 4 th of April 2015, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, peacefully departed this earthly life knowing he had left a strong legacy.

Larry was born on December 1, 1932 in West Point, Utah to Robert Hugh and Maude Montgomery.

Larry attended Davis High School where he excelled and lettered in wrestling, and football.  He attended Utah State University on a football scholarship where he was awarded Emeritus Mention his freshman year while playing First String.

He was raised on a farm and loved sharing his memories with his family and friends of growing up, often telling stories of; thinning beets, milking cows and fall harvest adventures.  Larry loved people and never met a person that wasn’t his friend.

He married Loween Parke on May 6, 1953 and had three beautiful children.  They were later divorced.

31 years ago Larry married Brenda Olsen and she brought three wonderful children to the union.  They were a loving couple that always put their children and family first.  Larry and Brenda loved to entertain at their summer home where you never left hungry and their greatest joy was being surrounded by their family.  Larry was famous for his sense of humor and big bear hugs.

Larry’s resume included; semi-professional wrestling and teaching meat cutting while living in Idaho.  After moving back to Ogden, Utah Larry worked for Thiokol Chemical; where he was part of the Jet Propulsion Team for the Minuteman Missile Program.  Larry also worked for Thiokol Job Corps as an administrator.

He is most loved by his wife, Brenda Montgomery; six children, Scott Montgomery of North Ogden; Vicki Brown of Seattle, WA; Rick (Sue) Montgomery of Huntsville; Craig (Tina) Olsen of Huntsville; Christy (Chris) Frazier of Syracuse; and Bonnie (Jeff) Hyde of Eden; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren and a partridge in a Pear Tree.

He is also survived by two brothers; Ray L. Montgomery of Salt Lake City and Paul L. Montgomery of Clinton, and preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Montgomery and his parents, Robert Hugh and Maude Montgomery.

Larry and his family wish to express their deep gratitude for all the support from loving friends and his wonderful skilled caregivers; Right at Home care and Encompass Hospice care.

Friends may join Larry’s children at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, on April 9, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate his life.
