Larry Douglas Mower
Larry D. Mower, 56, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 surrounded by his family. He is now free to walk and run again after spending 35 years in a wheelchair. He always had a smile for everyone, and never complained about his paralyses, except when he was cold. (Thank goodness for radiant Heaters).
Larry was born May 28, 1961 in Ogden, Utah to Lynn and Marie Mower. He graduated from Layton High School in 1979. He attended Weber State graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in computer programming.
He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Cebu Philippines mission from 1981 to 1983. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.
He married Catherine Youngberg August 23, 1990 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. Together they adopted two boys from the Utah Foster program. Ryan and Garrett (Rachele) Mower. They have a granddaughter Sirena that would light up Larry’s life every time she came to visit or stayed overnight.
Larry worked for the Federal Government as a Computer programmer/Analyst. He retired early due to some health reasons that wouldn’t permit him to work. He survived many challenges in life, but seemed to overcome them like the champion he was.
If you follow Larry (YELUM61) on Instagram, then you know his love for God, Family and Mule Deer. He loved to film mule deer and collect the sheds each year from the same deer to analyze the growth or decline of each mule deer. Larry loved teaching others about what to look for in each Mule Deer, and gave the mule deer names to distinguish them from one another.
Larry loved life, and loved to be outdoors. He will be remembered as a valiant man who did his best and thought the best of everyone. He is such a great example of courage and love. He wanted the best for everyone that he came in contact with. I’m sorry if you didn’t get to know him, because he left his mark on all who came in contact with him, but his wish for everyone is to be a person that looks for the good as the Savior does.
Larry is survived by his wife, children, granddaughter, mother Marie Mower, and seven brothers and sisters, Vicky Vega, Judy Cannon, Brenda Mower, David Mower, Joanne Harward, Janet Reynolds and Stephen Mower.
He is preceded in death by Lynn Mower (Father), Patsy Mower (sister), Lincoln Mower (great nephew) and Richard Youngberg (Father in Law).
A special thanks to Intermountain Hospice nurse Lissa. She was such a help with questions and suggestions on how to make everything comfortable and peaceful for Larry in the last weeks of his mortal existence.
