Larry Bryant Roberts

September 20, 1938 — May 26, 2024

Larry B. Roberts, aged 85, passed away on May 26, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and grandpa who will be deeply  missed by all who knew him. Larry was born on September 20, 1938, in Ogden Utah, the youngest of three. Shortly after the family moved to Grants pass Oregon, where he spent his formative years. He went on to enlist in the U.S Army National Guard  in 1955 serving 1 year and going on to serve 4 years in the Navy, then enlisting in U.S. Army serving 7 years before enlisting in  the U.S. Navy once again serving 2 years, before finishing his military career in the Army National Guard. He spent a total of 27  years in the service.

He traveled all around the world, one of his favorite places being Diego Garcia where he had fresh seafood every day. Germany was  another favorite where he drove the M114 tank. He was awarded the purple heart in 1966 in Vietnam. Although he was the youngest  boy in the family, he was the only one to see combat, his father and brother were lucky enough to never experience it. After Larry’s  military retirement he worked as a high voltage electrician at H.A.F.B.

Larry met Darlene through letters they wrote to each other while he was serving in the Vietnam War. Upon his arrival home they were  married on December 19, 1966, in Elko Nevada. They were the proud parents of two children Cindy and Charles. They also raised 3  of the 5 grandchildren.

But more than anything, Larry was devoted to his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren, sharing stories, jokes, and taking his lovely wife Dar to Larry’s Spring Chicken Inn every time she asked, which was often. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement.

In his free time, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting, yard work and restoring guns. In his later years Larry enjoyed teaching his  grandson Jordon all about guns and how to shoot. Larry enjoyed his visits with his great granddaughter Arianna, he could tell her the  same story over and over again from his military career and she would always be as enamored as the first time. Larry loved his jokes  and would tell them to anyone who would listen, he could tell the same jokes again and again and his granddaughter Kenzie and great granddaughter Rowan would always laugh so hard no matter if they heard it before or not. Larry liked routine and he would along all day.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Leslie Forrest and Belva Lucille Young Roberts, His loving wife Darlene Adams Roberts, Daughter Cindy Ann Roberts Eastman, Brother Rex Roberts and his daughter in law Tiffany W. Roberts.

Larry is survived by his son Charles Roberts and his grandchildren, Lacy Adams (Allen Jacobsen), Megan (Byron) Lovan, Jordon (Jess) Roberts, Tayler Gole, and Mackenzie Roberts. Nine Great grandchildren. His sister Barbra Mesman. His memory will be cherished by all

who knew him.

Love and gratitude go to Carolyn Keller for all the care she provided in his last years and never letting him get away with his silly excuses.  He truly saw you as one of his grandkids/kids. To Leila Bowen for babying him so much, he loved every minute of your visits. The family  also wishes to thank Thatcher Brook and the amazing job they did while Larry was in the care. A very special thank you to all the staff at Pheasant View assisted living. He loved being there and loved each and every one of you. It was a short time, but you took such good care of Larry and

us as a family.
