LaRue Boulton Rogers

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, LaRue Boulton Rogers, passed away August 25, 2013, at age 91. She leaves a lasting legacy of service and faith.

LaRue was born at home on April 3, 1922 in Vineyard, Utah, to Clehon and Annie Boulton. She was the fourth child in a family of three girls and two boys. She is a member of what has been called "the greatest generation" - those who lived through the great depression and World War II.

As a young girl, she lived with her family in a remodeled chicken coop. There was no electricity in the home. Her journal records, "We burned coal oil for lamps and had no indoor plumbing. The outhouse was located down the lane." During these early years, LaRue had one dress for school and one set of work clothes for life on the farm. She also recorded, "Some of our clothing was made from flour sacks. Whatever food we ate was grown on the farm. School lunches often consisted of a slice of bread covered with catsup."

From these humble beginnings LaRue blossomed into a beautiful, capable, obedient, devoted daughter of our Heavenly Father.

LaRue graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah. She met her husband, Lehi Snow Rogers at the end of her senior year. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 10, 1941.

LaRue and Lehi became the parents of eight children: Earl, Anne, Kathy, Leon, Allyn, Karen, Jan and Paul. They have 44 grand children, 139 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. LaRue was a devoted mother and wife who gave her all to her family. She joyfully sustained Lehi in all of his work and Church responsibilities. Additionally, LaRue worked 25 years for AT&T.

Once retired, LaRue and Lehi began a "second career" together as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They proselyted together in the Northern California and Coventry England Missions. While serving in Wales Lehi suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and passed away. Heartbroken and alone, LaRue flew home to Liberty, Utah. She later served a full-time Family History Mission in the Des Moines, Iowa Mission. She was an Ogden Temple worker for many years and served as a docent at the Beehive House and Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

As a single mother and grandmother for 28 years, LaRue has loved, nurtured and encouraged family and friends to love the Lord and keep His commandments. Her righteous influence cannot be measured.

LaRue was preceded in death by her husband Lehi, and her son, Paul. She is survived by seven of her eight children and their spouses; Earl and Pam Rogers, Anne and Steve Allen, Kathy and Brent Reynolds, Leon and Cris Rogers, Allyn Rogers, Karen and Larry Bass, Jan and Dixie Rogers, Peggy Rogers, and her sister-in-law, Verna Rogers.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Kaysville Central Stake Center, 555 North, 100 East, (Fairfield Road), Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Liberty, Utah Cemetery at 3p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
