Lasca Osborn Eyre 1913-2011

Dearly loved Lasca Osborn Eyre, 97, passed away March 27, 2011 in Bountiful, Utah.

Lasca was born November 26, 1913 in Escalante, Utah to Warren J. and Ruby Twitchell Osborn. Lasca''s love and support had a significant impact on the lives of her children, grandchildren and her large extended family which included five generations. She enjoyed remarkably good health and vitality during her long life.

Lasca graduated from Branch Agricultural College, Cedar City, Utah, now SUSU, with a two year degree in Education and subsequently completed a four year bachelor''s degree in Education at Utah State University. She married Sherman Guy Eyre, her high school sweetheart, July 9, 1936 in the Manti Temple. They were the parents of six children. Warren Gene (Gretha), Pleasant Grove, UT; Jed Anthony (Karen), Salt Lake City, UT; Harmon J. (Julie), Salt Lake City, UT; Steven Collin, (Rona) Algodones, NM; Marjorie Patricia (William) Call, Salt Lake City, UT; Douglas Sherman (Lannice), Bountiful, UT.

Lasca and Sherman raised their family in Escalante, Panquitch and Logan. Sherman was Superintendent of Schools for Garfield County and Logan City. He died May 12, 1976.

Lasca was a public school teacher. She taught in Iron, Garfield, Box Elder, Cache and Davis Counties. She retired at age 65 after 25 years of service. Lasca was loved and respected by students, parents and administrators.

In retirement, Lasca volunteered as a guide at the Beehive House, traveled extensively and enjoyed vacationing with her children and grandchildren. She formed a personal, loving relationship with each grandchild. She enjoyed reading and her friends in book club.

Lasca was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many positions. She appreciated her neighbors and friends of Canyon Park Ward. They were kind and attentive throughout her forty years of residence. The family thanks the staff of Inspiration Hospice including Alice, Consuela, and Cheryl. A special thank you to Robert and Suzanne Eyre Jackson for the care given at Lasca''s home.

Lasca is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Evelyn O. Wilcox, Bountiful, UT and a brother Herbert H. Osborn (Melba), Spokane, WA. Preceded in death by brothers Berlin Osborn and Robert Osborn, sisters Myrtle O. Christensen and Rosella O. Brown and grandson Brian S. Eyre.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where family and friends may visit from 9:45- 10:45 am prior to services. Interment will be at 2 pm at Logan City Cemetery.
