Laura Chadwick Kump passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Draper, Utah on October 11, 2013 at the age of 97. She was born September 16, 1916 to John LeRoy Chadwick and Pearl Treiss Woodland in North Ogden, Utah. Her mother passed away when Laura was 20, a great loss and sadness to her. She married LaVar Kump in 1939. She stayed by his side and cared for him until he passed away at the age of 93. They were married for 69 years. She grew up in beloved North Ogden where she attended Weber High School. After one year at Weber State College she transferred to BYU where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She later received a Masters Degree in Education from Utah State. She taught school in Tooele, Provo, Morgan, Ogden, North Ogden and Pleasant View. She retired after 40 years of teaching. For 40 years she touched the lives of many others as their piano teacher. She was a member of the LDS church and fulfilled her callings in several auxiliaries of the church. She was a loving mother, a giving grandmother and a loyal friend. She was deeply loved and will be missed. We will remember her meticulous detail, genealogy expertise, her voracious appetite for reading, her generosity and love, her positive and appreciative attitude and her example of integrity and honesty.
She is survived by her children, Byron (Jane) Kump, Karen (Walt) Bills, Ana (Barry) Eldredge; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her spouse, parents, brothers and sisters.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to Renee Brzenk who lovingly cared for her over the last six years and her grandson Walt Bills Jr. whose love and care made her last month comfortable (at home).
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
