Laurel Isaac Hill

Laurel Isaac Hill, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. He was born on January 31, 1929 in Bloomington, ID to Casper Elijah and Una Viola Broomhead Hill. At age 14, he moved to Washington Terrace and attended Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1947. After graduation he worked at Hill Air Force Base.
He married Nathel Bullock in Ogden, UT on April 17, 1948. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on February 21, 1962.
In 1957, he accepted a position for two years at Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan, where he was accompanied by his family.
Laurel worked as a missile transportation specialist at Hill Air Force Base and retired at age 46 and then went to work with his brother, Clayton Max, at Big Sky Realty, retiring from there in 1987.
He and his wife served in the Singapore LDS Mission in Goa, India; Ipoh, Malaysia; and New Delhi, India. Later they served for five years in the Ogden LDS Temple and in a pilot program as special service missionaries in the center of Ogden.
He was a member of the Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society and as a board member for the museum.
Laurel enjoyed rock hunting, camping on their property in Lava Ranch, fishing, and lapidary work. He was known for his beautiful gemstone butterflies.
Laurel is survived by his wife, Nathel B. Hill; his children, David Laurel (Sukie) Hill, Kaysville; Scott Nathan Hill, South Ogden; Bruce Craig (Sherri) Hill, Ogden; and Guy Lance (Barbie) Hill, Ogden; and Paula (David) Dickerson, Syracuse; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and brothers, Clayton Max (Judy) Hill, Sunset; and Theron Bob (Dawn) Hill. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin James; daughter-in-law, Susan Hill; granddaughter, Michelle and grandson, Randy; and brothers, Darrel Hill and Keith Hill.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden 7 th Ward Chapel, 720 Nancy Dr., South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
