Laurel Ann Rudd Johansen

November 14, 1956 – October 31, 2016

Laurel Ann Rudd Johansen returned to her Heavenly Father after a 16 year battle with ovarian cancer surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Ogden, Utah to Clifford Rudd and Ruth Marie Lewis and was raised in Layton, graduating from Layton High School.

She married Dennis Johansen and together they had four children.  They were later divorced.

She held many jobs during her life but her favorite and most recent was the DATC where she made many close friends.

Laurel was a faithful member of the LDS Church and worked hard to remain strong throughout the many trials of her life.

She was an avid crafter and loved to paint and crochet.  She enjoyed sharing these talents with her friends and family.

The most important thing to Laurel was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She taught them how to endure to the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Melissa.

She is survived by her children: Joni (Richard) Swanson, Clearfield; Brian Johansen, Salt Lake City;  Kayla (Cameron) West, Clearfield; and six grandchildren, Sister Kylie Swanson (currently serving in the Philippines Cavite Mission), and Sister Kelsi Swanson, (currently serving in the Philippines Quezon City Mission), Kambree Swanson, Kaden Swanson, Ryker West, Ava West, sister Mimi (Rick) Hendrickson, Salt Lake City; and nephew Thomas Hendrickson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
