Laurie Miller

March 28, 1959 — September 17, 2018

Laurie Christensen Miller passed away peacefully smiling and holding the hand of her husband on the morning of September 17, 2018.  Laurie fought a heroic battle against very aggressive cancer for well over a year.  She always maintained an amazing optimism and positivity throughout her trial and her never-ending will to fight will be forever inspirational to all that knew her.

Laurie was born in Ogden, Utah on March 28, 1959 to Wanda and Boyd Christensen (Layton) and was the youngest of four children.  She graduated from Roy High School in 1977 and attended Weber State.  She married the love of her life, Gary Miller, on August 2, 1991 and was later sealed to him in the Jordan River Utah Temple.  Laurie brought two children to the marriage from a previous marriage; Brant and Brooke Bennion, her and Gary had one child, Preston.  She was the beloved ‘Memaw’ to 4 grandchildren; Beau & Delaney Bennion, and London and Grace Taylor which were the center of her world and her absolute favorite thing to talk about and to be with.

Her main focus and the source of the most joy throughout her life, was her family and particularly her grandchildren.  Any family occasion in her eyes was special, always was decorated with flair, and the next family party was planned before the current one was over!  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother with a contagious smile and a tender heart.

Laurie was preceded in death by her mother, brother (Barry), two brothers-in-law (Bob Storey and Lennis Glismann), and her husband’s parents (June and Russell Miller).  She is survived by her father, two sisters (Jill Storey and Pam Glismann), husband, three children, two in-laws (Ashley Bennion and Jared Taylor), and four grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the family, friends, and wonderfully dedicated ward members that have been such a support through this difficult trial.  Also, they would like to thank the caring and professional staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Huntsman At-Home program for their dedication, compassion, and service to Laurie.
