LaVall Horace Taylor 9/17/1934 to 7/23/2012
He was a hunter, fisherman, handyman, and gardener but most of all he was a husband, father, grandfather and friend. LaVall Horace Taylor will be remembered as one of the kindest and respected of men and dear to his family. He passed away on July 23, 2012, with his beloved wife by his side, as she has been for the last 61 years.
Vall was born on September 17, 1934 to Arvil and Leah Rasmussen Taylor of Ogden, Utah. Later his mother married Frank Hopson. LaVall met the love of his life while attending Mound Fort Junior High School and blew her away with his fiery red hair and matching personality. Vall married Gloria Dean Jones on August 29, 1952 and were soon joined by their children Connie LaVall and Kevin Jay. LaVall and Gloria were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on August 3, 1972. LaVall worked for Murphy-Neill Electric in Ogden, Utah. Later he worked for Wire-Communications in Anchorage, Alaska, and was very proud of his work as the Superintendent of the Prudoe Bay Powerhouse supporting the Alaskan Pipeline. He later ventured in business with Michael Dalpias and created DT Electric. The company found great success for many years before Vall retired. He was a man of great faith and demonstrated his testimony of his Savior in his treatment and kindness to others. He held several positions in the LDS church but nothing meant more than his calling as a home teacher.
He was happy to know he would be with his mother and daughter again, but we will miss him greatly.
LaVall is survived by his wife, Gloria Dean Taylor, son, Kevin (Kat) Taylor, son-in-law, Jerry Comish, brother, Gary (Claudia) Taylor, half-sister, Marjean (Robert) Allred, step-sister, Gale (Gerry) Soutiere, grandchildren, Jeremy, Suzanne, Stephanie, Melanie, Nicholas, Cameron, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Connie. The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice for their support and care of Vall.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
