ROY - Our loving Mother, Grandmother and Friend, LaVell Kendell Smith, 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She was born on March 1, 1922 in South Weber, Utah, the daughter of John Wilkinson and Myrle Dean Francom Kendell.
LaVell married George Nicolas Sodenkamp. They later divorced. She married James Eldredge Smith. He passed away.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission to Washington DC. She loved to working in the temple.
LaVell loved doing needle point. She was a friend to everyone and everyone called her grandma. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. The grandchildren will always remember their "cookie grandma".
LaVell is survived by her sons, John Sodenkamp and George Sodenkamp Jr.; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Vern Kendell and sister, Donna Kendel Cornia.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Shane Manning; parents and siblings, Glen Kendell, Adella Ellis, Jay Dean Kendell and Fae Kendell.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
