KAYSVILLE - LaVerne Redford Bennett McQuarrie, age 93, died August 28, 2015 while residing at Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton, Utah due to incidents of age.
LaVerne was born in Cornish, Utah to Mabel Anderson and Albert Dell Redford April 13, 1922, the second of six children: Mont, Donna, Lola, Ivan and Wendell. She attended North Cache High School. She met Glen Harold Bennett and they were married June 15, 1939. Together they had five children: Lynada (Hal) Reeder, Glenda (Kent) Draper, Elaine (Jack) Kerivan, Marvin (Jackie) Bennett, and Jeff (Cindy) Bennett. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple as an eternal family, December 15, 1964.
LaVerne loved the nursing field and later completed the education course of Licensed Practical Nurse receiving her license in 1971. She worked in many positions, but her favorite was working for Dr. Grant F. Kearns. She loved and embraced the gospel serving in a wide variety of positions. Unfortunately, Glen suddenly passed at 49 years of age, unexpectedly on March 17, 1967. They were married twenty five years. It was a terrible shock to the family. Later she met Robert (Bob) C. McQuarrie from Sunset, Utah. His charm won her heart and they were married May 15, 1968 for time in the Salt Lake Temple. She gained three more children: Robert Jr. (Barbara), Irene (John) Conover and Marilyn (John) Kekacs. During her lifetime she loved to sew, was an excellent bread maker and cook, loved oil painting, fishing and traveling with Bob. They were married thirty two years.
LaVerne is survived by one sister, Lola (Roy) McFerson, and all her children and their spouses, except Robert Junior and Irene. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and many others counted as family. She loved them all. She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings and her two husbands, Glen and Robert.
The family expresses their thankfulness to the caregivers of Apple Tree, Manor Care, Apple Village, and especially to the caregivers of Good Shepherd Hospice for their kindness and love of our dear Mother.
Services in her honor will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville 10th Crestwood LDS Chapel, 1039 Crestwood Rd. Friends may visit with family Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
