LaVerne Elizabeth Miller

LaVerne Elizabeth Miller's mortal journey lasted 99 years, ending on January 21, 2016.  

She was born on October 2, 1916 in Ogden, Utah and spent her childhood years in that city.  LaVerne was the daughter of Agnes H. Purdie and Robert I. Moyes.

After graduating from Ogden High School, LaVerne attended Weber College, Brigham Young University and Agricultural College Logan.  She graduated from Logan.

She taught elementary school in Utah, Wyoming and California.  The "tough kids" were her specialty.  She loved being a teacher.  The majority of her career was in San Diego, California.  

The love of her life and her husband of 54 years was Fred F. Miller.  The couple had one son, Robert (married to Christine Hall), five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

LaVerne was a Navy wife.  Fred's 20 year career was her career as well.  She became quite independent while separated from her husband during several overseas tours of duty, some of which were almost a year in duration.

If she had a hobby, it would have been the acquisition of hats, high heels, clothes and towels.

We dearly love and will greatly miss our mother and grandmother.
