LaVon Melvin Baur

OGDEN - Our loving 88 year-old husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father for a glorious reunion with his parents Edward T. and Emma K. Baur, his son Larry, and grandson Spencer on Sunday, June 3, 2012.

He was born August 6, 1923 in Logan and at age 19 was called to defend his country in World War II. He returned home safely with honors and on August 28, 1946 married his sweetheart, Beth Pribble in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had five children and were married over 65 years.

He owned and operated Baur Auto Wreckage retiring in 1985. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Supervisor of the Ogden Temple Baptistry. He loved being with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing, and traveling, but his passion was cooking.

LaVon''s surviving legacy is his wife Beth; daughters Kathy Baur, Susan (Terry) Flitton, Patty (Kelly) Taylor; son Scott Baur; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Roger, and Ownes Baur and sister Lydia Smith.

The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice for their wonderful help and loving service.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary; 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
