Lavon Beatrice (Bonnie) Carrel

Lavon Beatrice (Bonnie) Carrel, 91 died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Fairfield Village Assisted Living, Layton, Utah.

Bonnie was born in Ogden, Utah on May 9, 1924 to Archie and Ruth Macfarlane Gale.  She was the fifth child of the family of seven.  She was raised and schooled in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School with the class of 1942.

After graduating she worked at Hill AFB where she met her husband Elton Jeffery Carrel. They were married in August 1946 and soon thereafter started a career in the military until Jeff’s retirement in 1970.  Their family would eventually consist of two sons and two daughters.  In 1970 they moved to Layton where the children finished high school and college. After Jeff’s retirement they spent time in every state in the union and about half that many countries.  She especially loved traveling with friends to Europe visiting places they had lived during their time in the military.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and all her siblings.  She is survived by her four children Leslie (Dennis) Waters, South Weber; Jeffery (Vikki) Carrel, Farmington; Craig (Debbie) Carrel, Marshall, Michigan; and Sue (Max) Wilde, Seoul, Korea.  She is survived by 11 grandchildren, Amber Waters, Becky Waters, Chris (Melissa) Waters, Megan Wilde, Denise (Ian) Orton, Corbett Carrel, Ryan Wilde, Meredith Carrel, Cason Carrel, Patrick Carrel, Ryan Carrel; and four great-grandchildren, Jack Orton, Finn Orton, Ashton Orton and Lincoln Waters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton Utah.  Friends may visit family one hour prior to services at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
