LaVon S. Crandell
OGDEN – LaVon Stanley Crandell, 92, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Salt Lake City.
She was born February 2, 1916 in Ogden, a daughter of Lillian Lowe and George Stanley.
LaVon married Arthur Benjamin Crandell on June 7, 1941 in Ogden. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1979.
She was raised and educated in Ogden where she attended Weber College and Utah State Agriculture College.
LaVon was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star since September of 1943 Miriam Chapter #14.
She retired from St. Benedict’s Hospital as a technician.
LaVon was an avid hiker and loved to travel. She enjoyed square dancing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and remained very active in her later years.
Surviving is her daughter, Diane (Jim) Pivirotto, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Allan Stanley, Ogden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Dennis and Vaughn, sister, Devora, and brother, Conrad.
My mother LaVon was a loving, caring and gentle soul who loved everyone in her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, especially me, her daughter Diane.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with the Reverend Dr. Richard Minnich officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
