LaVona Stegen

“Together Again”
LaVona Stegen, 93, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2017. She was born on December 20, 1923, in Tremonton, Utah, to George Wright and Elsie Garfield. She was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She married her best friend and sweetheart, Don Stegen, on June 22, 1946 in Ogden, Utah; they were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. Together they proudly raised three children. Don and LaVona shared 57 happy and wonderful years of marriage together before Don passed away in 2003.
LaVona especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was always “tickled” when they would visit her. They will remember her most for her child-like excitement she had for every gift they gave her no matter how small or insignificant it seemed. She was always a kid at heart and it showed in all things she did and her innocent personality.
Don and LaVona enjoyed traveling and went on many tours with their close friends and family. LaVona had a love of music of which you could often hear her listening to from outside her home. She enjoyed her T.V. shows, going to shows, shopping, and collecting owls. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and would do anything they invited her to do.
LaVona was a wonderful, sweet, thoughtful lady that was a great example to all. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
LaVona is survived by her children, Don (Barbara) Stegen, Redlands, CA and Kathy Sharp, West Haven, UT; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers, Norman Wright, West Haven, UT and Lealand Wright, Ogden, UT; and sister, Helen Rassmussen, Omaha, NE.
LaVona was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Don Stegen; her daughter, Linda Wade Lux; her brother, George Wright; her sister, Iona Wright; and her great-grandson, Nathaniel, who have all been waiting patiently to be reunited with her.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Peachtree Place Assisted Living for the love and care they showed LaVona.
The family held private services in her honor. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
