LaVora Alberta Burke
Passed away peacefully at her home in Chico, California on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the age of 85.
LaVora was born March 4, 1932 in Shelton, Washington to William Taft Young and Alberta Laura Ferrel.
She graduated from Yuba City Union High School, The Highland College of Nursing in Oakland, California and The University of Utah where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing.
LaVora worked as a Registered Nurse for over 45 years, serving in a variety of positions at numerous hospitals in California, Wyoming, and Utah. At the time of her retirement in 1998, she was working as Director, Surgical Services at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together with her loving husband, Dr. Caseel D. Burke she served as a missionary in the California San Francisco Mission.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Caseel; and son, Mark W. Jensen.
She is survived by her sons, Brent and Todd Jensen; her stepchildren, Brian Burke, Kathy Iverson, Barbara Braman and Carolyn McNeeley; and her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Honeyville Cemetery, Honeyville, Utah. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton.
