Lawana Lou Spiers Clontz

1933 ~ 2019

Lou passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Lou was born November 18, 1933 in Malad, Idaho to Brigham and Mary Jones. She was the youngest of eight children. She grew up in Cherry Creek, Idaho.

She married Glen Spiers October 29, 1953.  They had three children and later divorced but remained close friends until his passing in 1987.

She married Dennis Clontz September 5, 1990. They spent many wonderful years together and enjoyed spending winters at their place in Twentynine Palms, California. Dennis passed away in 2001.

Lou worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life. She spent many years working at the family business and then went on to work for Ogden Community Action. She retired from Optical Associates in 1993. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at McKay Dee Hospital.

Lou loved her family deeply. She was our biggest cheerleader, the one everyone called when they needed a listening ear. She loved to have her family together. She was always waiting by the door with excited anticipation to greet family. Traditions were very important to her. She always made Christmas so special and had birthday traditions that her grandchildren will cherish forever.  She loved playing cards and games, her coffee and always had a sweet tooth. She loved to watch football and enjoyed placing bets on the games with her Son-In-Law Randy. She loved to get dressed up and had great sense of style. Her motto was “You’re Not Finished Until Your Lipstick Is On”!

We are happy knowing that she is having a joyful reunion with many loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Glen and Dennis; her grandson, Michael; her great-grandson, Kaden; and all seven of her siblings and their spouses.

She is survived by her children, Doug (Amy) Spiers, Debbie (Randy) Miller, Judy (Reid) Hansen; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank Atlas Hospice for the loving care and support they gave to our mom in her final days. A special thanks to Carli whom she adored and who was a miracle to our family during this difficult time.

Private services will be held for close friends and family at Lou’s request. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
