Lawrence Ivan Podwys

Lawrence Ivan Podwys, 73, passed away on March 16, 2021 in Layton, Utah.  He was born July 29, 1947 on Alameda, California to Henry Anthony and Jane Price Podwys.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Throughout his life he served in various positions, most recently serving as an advancement counselor in the Boy Scouts.

Lawrence served in the United States Navy serving on aircraft carriers serving as aviation electrician.  He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion serving as Commander of Layton Post 87 and was a district officer.  He was also a member of Vietnam Veterans of America.

He was married to Paula Berg on December 30, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Paula, his children; April (Kelly) Roberts, Catherine Ritt, Faith (Jefferson) Brown, Ivan (Sarah) Podwys, Lenora (Gunther) Immers, his siblings; Rollin (Barbara) Podwys, Rhonda Seutter, Leota (Paul) Neuwirth, Duane (Anne) Podwys, and Arleta (Jon) Garner.  He was the proud grandpa of 14 grandchildren and great grandpa of  two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Anthony and Jane Irene Price Podwys, two nephews and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
