Lawrence Jack Roe, Sr.

Lawrence J. Roe, “Jack” Sr., 96, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home.  He was born in Montpelier, Idaho on October 8, 1917 to Lawrence T. and Avis Angie Arnold Roe.  At a young age, he moved to Ogden and lived there for over 90 years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest in the Canyon Hollows Ward.

Jack was a WWII Veteran in the European Theater, serving in the US Army.  He worked as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad.  Jack was a member of the Toast Masters.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, motorcycles and gardening.

Jack is survived by his son, Larry (Becky) Roe of Ogden; daughter, Cheri (Stephen) Haas, Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.T. and Avis Roe, three siblings, and three spouses.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

We would like to thank the staff at George Wahlen Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for their loving care of our Dad.
