Leah Porter

Leah Keeter Porter, having been born of goodly parents, Malcolm Earl and Lois Newey Keeter, on March 25, 1914, passed away peacefully at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the age of 99. Her father passed away when she was 3 years old and her mother Lois and stepfather Robert Stuart Purdie raised her. She grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden City Schools.

On June 19, 1934 she married Clarence Junior Porter. She was a homemaker, an accomplished seamstress, and a friend to all.

Leah was a former longtime member of the Canyon Hollows LDS Ward and for the last two and a half years a member of the Skyline Branch of the LDS Church.

Her children, JoAn and Paul Powell, Earl and Heidi Porter, Steven and Carolyn Porter, and Sally Porter Oostyen survive her. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 9 brothers and sisters, a son-in-law and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Friends may visit with family on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. There will be no other services. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Mountain Ridge for the excellent care they provided her in a homelike atmosphere. They also thank Inspiration Hospice and caregivers Laura R.N., Kristi, Dr. White, Sunny and Ollie for their compassionate care.
