LAYTON a€" Leila Marie Holmes Fonnesbeck, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012. She was born on April 29, 1924 in Trenton, Utah, the daughter of Clyde Edgar and Susie Juliett Fackrell Holmes. Following the untimely death of her mother, she was raised by her loving grandmother Luella Vilate Belcher Fackrell. She grew up in Trenton. She graduated from North Cache High School, Class of 1942. She trained to be a registered nurse at the William Budge Memorial Hospital. She gave loving, compassionate service through her nursing.

She married Seymour M. Fonnesbeck on December 5, 1945 in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Their U.S. Air Force life took them to Illinois, Japan, New York, Alaska, Maryland, and Utah.

Marie was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving in the church with callings in the Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society.

Marie enjoyed her handicraft and crocheting hobbies, making many beautiful items for family and friends. She also enjoyed their winter home and friendships in Yuma, Arizona.

Marie loved her family and friends. She is survived by her four children: Veva Sue (Greg) Bart, Dale (DeAnn) Fonnesbeck, Dean (Becky) Fonnesbeck and Ann (Bryce) Wheelwright. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one great-grandchild, Elijah Williams.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Wasatch Chapel, 789 E. Wasatch Drive, Layton. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Smithfield Cemetery.
