Leila Pauline Watkins

March 3, 1940~July 6, 2021

Leila Pauline Watkins, mother, grandmother, and beautiful friend passed away at her home on Tuesday July 6, 2021 at the age of 81 after a short battle with cancer.

Leila was born on March 3, 1940 in Corvallis, Oregon to Charles and Ruby (Ward) Smith, the youngest of ten children. Her happiest childhood memories were spending time with her dad and her sheep, Mary. She enjoyed playing in the rivers in Oregon, going on many adventures in the woods. Throughout her adult life, Leila had an impeccable work ethic, always excelling at the jobs at task.

Leila was known for her spunky attitude, her kindness, and her caring personality. She contributed many years of services to the Latter-day Saints Church. She was always willing to offer a helping hand to those in need. She had the ability to help others feel joy in times of sadness and instinctively knew when to reach out to people. She was a skilled painter and enjoyed crafting, collecting crystals and was an avid reader, always striving to learn more. She had an affinity for animals and found great joy in taking care of her horses and her beloved Pit bull, Bear. Leila lived for her grandchildren. Her greatest pride and joy were spending time with them, creating memories and being as silly as possible with them. She kept her grandkids close and dear to heart.

Leila is survived by her daughter, Leila Denae; grandchildren, Bekkie, Keri, Colby, Anna, David, and Katy; and great-grandchildren, Deagan and Dylan.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been established at America First Credit Union to help assist her family with expenses.  Contributions can be made at any America First Credit Union branch to the Leila Pauline Watkins Memorial Fund account or by calling 800-999-3961.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
