OGDEN a€" Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Leland Leolan Valentine passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at McKay-Dee Hospital due to congestive heart failure.

He was born in Akron, Ohio on July 15, 1920 to Euliller Chester and Bertha May Story Valentine.

On June 24, 1939, Lee married Anna May Snook in Akron, Ohio. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

In 1943, Lee and Anna May, along with their young family moved to Ogden, Utah. In 1951, they moved to Pleasant View, Utah where he built a lovely home for his beloved wife, planning to remain there for the rest of their lives; due to necessity, they moved to North Ogden in 2004. While living in Pleasant View, he served on the Pleasant View City Council.

As active members of the LDS Church, Lee and Anna May served as Ogden Utah Temple officiators. They served in the Louisiana Baton Rouge LDS Mission from 1982-1983. Lee also served in many other callings throughout his life.

They traveled extensively, and Lee worked hard to keep their home in good repair with a beautiful yard and gardens for his dear wife to enjoy.

He earned his A.S. degree in Business Administration at Weber College in 1952.

Lee was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

He had many jobs during his life including life insurance and B.F. Goodrich Company in Akron. He was a general contractor for 20 years building homes in the Weber County area and started a partnership that later became known as Mount Ogden Realty. He worked as an engineer for 37 years with the Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1981.

He has faithfully and lovingly served and cared for his wife for the past 10-plus years.

Lee is survived by his wife of 70 years; five children, Jane V. Rhees, North Ogden; Roger (Joanne) Valentine, North Ogden; Diane (Keith) Christensen, North Ogden; Daniel (Janet) Valentine, Grace, ID; Susan (Richard) Gonzalez, Pleasant View; 24 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Leona Valentine Cunningham, Violet Valentine Bosgeiter, three brothers, William L. Valentine, James E. Valentine, Edsel F. Valentine, and one grandson, Jeffrey L. Valentine.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Garry MacKenzie for his tenderness, compassion, and loving manner in which he assisted Lee, and also to the nursing staff in the ICU and Intermediate Care Facility at McKay-Dee Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 2nd Ward Chapel, North Ogden Coldwater Stake, 770 East 2100 North.

Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, North Ogden Ben Lomond Cemetery.
