Leland Elwin Walker, born June 6, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James H. and Emma S. Walker passed away Thursday December 23, 2010.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served 2 A½ years in the Spanish American Mission, in two LDS Bishoprics and in many teaching positions. Lee was radio broadcast pioneer by bringing commercial radio to Utah''s Uintah Basin in 1947. He served in the Utah State municipal organizations and as a city councilman. Lee moved his family to Scottsdale in 1959 and worked as sales and office manager for Ray Enterprises of Mesa. He is survived by children, Annalee Bohon, Stephanie Walker, Melissa Trom and Brian Walker. Their legacy includes 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Services were held Friday, December 31, 2010 at Messinger Mortuary Chapel, Scottsdale, Arizona. Lee was laid to rest on Friday January 7, 2011 in Hoytsville, Utah beside his loving wife Elaine, who preceded him in death this past October.
