VENTURA, CA/RIVERDALE, UT – Lenard Kay Bluemel passed away peacefully after a seven-month battle with lung cancer. Lenard was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born to Lenard O. and Amy Eliza Walker Bluemel on March 20, 1937 in Lyman, Wyoming.
Lenard married Shirley Ruth Smith in December of 1966. Shirley brought to this union three children: Janette (Jan), Syndee, and Frankie, whom he raised as his own with much love.
Lenard served with the U.S. Air Force for three years. He later became a Journeyman Electrician and retired in 1990. If something needed fixing, “take it to Lenard.”
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Lenard had resided with his Uncle Al and Aunt Donna in Riverdale for the past five years.
Lenard is survived by two step-daughters, Janette (Jan) Bourdeau, Syndee (Shale) Towe, both of Ventura, CA; three granddaughters, Shannon (Brian) Defisher, Ojai, CA; Brandee Kennedy and Desiree Cayer, both of Ventura, CA; one step-grandson, Shaydon Towe, two great-grandsons, Patrick and Timothy (Soupy), and three great-granddaughters, Karlee, Cori and Rylee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, step-father, F.M. (Slim) Sidenberg, and his adopted son, Frankie.
As per Lenard’s request, there will be no public viewing. Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 7 at 11 a.m. at the Lyman, Wyoming Cemetery.
