Lenard George Johnson

August 10, 1966 — August 6, 2024

Lenard George Johnson, a devoted father, grandfather, and a friend to all, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Ogden, Utah, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on August 10, 1966, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Ray DeVries Johnson and Shirley Lou Parker, Lenard grew up with a deep sense of curiosity and an enduring love for the natural world. He lived in Ovid, ID, Riverside, CA, Kaysville, UT, and Layton, UT, carrying with him the values of kindness, integrity, and hard work wherever he went.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lenard's life was a testament to his belief in service and love for others. He attended Idaho State University, where he nurtured his passion for technology by studying Robotics. His career as a Biomedical Engineer was more than just a job; it was a calling, where he used his skills to help improve the lives of others through innovation and dedication.

On January 3, 1991, Lenard married LaRue Wensel, in Logan, Utah. Together, they raised a beautiful family, teaching their children the importance of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest.

Lenard was a man of many passions. He found joy in the melody of music, the art of capturing moments through videography, and the beauty of the skies, whether it was an eclipse, a meteor shower, or the northern lights. His love for nature drew him to national parks, where he felt a deep connection to the earth's wonders. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, whether they were exploring the great outdoors or simply sharing a meal he had lovingly prepared. His cooking, like everything he did, was an expression of his love.

To those who knew him, Lenard was more than just a father, grandfather, and friend —he was a source of light and warmth, a man who could always be counted on for a good joke, a helping hand, or a listening ear. His legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Lenard is survived by his children: Maren, Kayla (CJ), Logan, and Mecham; and his grandchildren: Jackson and Jonah. He also leaves behind his dear siblings: Max (Jean), Rodney (Suzanne), Rex (Dee), Marie (Jerry), Jennifer (Mike), and Brenda (Patrick). Lenard was preceded in death by his parents, Ray DeVries and Shirley Lou Parker Johnson; his beloved son, Parker Ray Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Malyn Poulson Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations towards funeral and medical expenses, which can be made via Venmo @kaylaraeanne. The outpouring of support and prayers during this difficult time has been a tremendous comfort to the family, and they are deeply grateful.

Funeral services to celebrate Lenard's life will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the Layton 38th Ward Chapel, 725 S. 200 E., Layton, Utah. Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church before the service to share memories and offer their condolences.

Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ovid Cemetery in Ovid, Idaho, where Lenard will be laid to rest in the place that held so many of his cherished memories.
