Lenore Parsons Egan
Age 90
Lenore Parsons Egan returned to her Heavenly Father and her loving family on Friday, June 24, 2011. She was born December 18, 1920 in Miami Gila, Arizona the 4th child to Donnie Rover and Lilian Lenore Wixom Parsons.
Lenore''s childhood was filled with adventures, hardships and good family life. She and her family were pioneers that settled the Gila Valley area in Arizona. They later helped establish the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Antonio, Texas. Her family attended a branch which met in a small church that also served as the family home for some years. As a child she and her siblings took swimming lessons each summer. They became such great swimmers they were the leaders in their groups. She and her sisters took tap dance lessons in San Pedro Park in San Antonio as well as Speech Lessons. They were a close family who shared many experiences together.
Lenore met John Lloyd Egan while he was stationed in the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. They were married on June 30, 1940. They and their family were sealed on July 27, 1956 in the LDS Logan, Utah Temple. Lenore and Lloyd traveled while serving in the Air Force; being blessed with many wonderful friends. They later built their home in Layton, Utah where they retired.
Lenore was very talented in many areas. She learned to play the piano as a teenager and played for the branch in San Antonio. She was serving in this calling when she met her husband, who was there with the Air Force. A gifted seamstress; she sewed outfits for her children and for her porcelain dolls. She made many beautiful dance costumes and evening gowns for daughters and granddaughters. She loved to embroidery, knit, crochet and make beautiful quilts. Some of her great talents were in making porcelain dolls and china painting. We as a family are blessed to have many of her beautiful handmade items in our homes.
Lenore was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings. She had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the restored Gospel. Lenore and Lloyd shared their testimonies as couple missionaries to Zaire, Africa.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Lloyd Egan and one son John Lloyd Egan Jr. She is survived by children: Elayne and David Day, Marie Egan (daughter-in-law), Richard Brett Egan, Pamela and Daniel Merkley, Kevin and Leah Egan and Marlon Egan. She has 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She has one brother, Leonard Garth Parsons, of Amarillo, Texas.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her for her genuine love and concern for all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Peacefield Ward, 1589 E. Gentile, Layton. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
