Leo Sumio Iseki
ROY – Leo Sumio Iseki, owner of Uncle Leo’s Utah Noodle Parlor, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 10, 2009.
Leo was born April 18, 1926 in Murray, Utah, to Tsunayoshi and Yukiyo Inouye Iseki. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1943. He was a veteran during World War II serving with the U.S. Army.
On December 15, 1950, Leo married Mamiyo Akimoto.
Uncle Leo became the owner and proprietor of the Utah Noodle Parlor, in Ogden, on January 1, 1953. Throughout his life, Leo utilized the success of his business to give back to the community. He made several charitable contributions to organizations such as the American Cancer Society, McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden Regional Medical Center, Weber County Library, Weber State University, Mt. Ogden Rotary Club, Utah Restaurant Association, amongst others. He also sponsored many local sports, including the Utah Shamrocks.
Uncle Leo dedicated his life to his family, business and community. He was the heart of his family and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Applegate Home Health; Hospice; Manor Care; Nurses Sheri, Becky, Deanna, Jessica, Sonja, Tiffany, and Luana. Much appreciation is given to Wendy Kunz for her commitment to the care of Leo during his last two years of immobility.
Leo is survived by his wife, Mamiyo Iseki, Roy; sister, Lillian (Larry) Sugihara, Clinton; sister, June (Shinji) Ichida, Ogden. Leo is also survived by one niece and two nephews who he and Mamiyo raised, Jean (Larry) Peterson, Michael (Sharyl) Sakashita, and Mark Sakashita; several other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family and friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street.
