Leon Ben Bitton

April 17, 1935 ~ November 24, 2016

Leon Ben Bitton, 81, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on April 17, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Benjamin H. and Hannah Toone Bitton.

He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Tullis, on August 19, 1953 in North Ogden. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.

Leon was raised in West Weber and attended Weber High School.  He lived in West Weber until moving to Pleasant View in 1995.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a car inspector for 35 years and also operated a small farm.

Leon was an active member of the Pleasant View LDS 1st Ward.  He held many callings through his life.  His last calling was a missionary of the welfare farm peach orchard, which he enjoyed very much.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and most recently his great-grandchildren.  He loved fishing, traveling, gardening and sharing the produce he had raised with everyone around him.  He was always there to help anyone in need.

Surviving are his loving wife of Pleasant View; daughter, Tamie (Scott) Kelsey, Pleasant View; and son, Micah Bitton, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three sisters, Donna Butters, Morgan; Marilyn Speas, Delta, CO; and Vera Hurlburt, San Jose, CA.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Raymond; and three sisters, Grace, Helen, and Gayle.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant View 1st Ward, 3035 North 1325 West.  Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.  and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
