Leon Joseph Staciokas
Leon Staciokas was born on January 23, 1928 in VytautiskAC.s, Lithuania to Kazimieras and DomicAC.lAC. Staciokas.
He graduated from the Lithuanian Polytechnic Institute at the age of 16 as an electrical engineer. He was a German fighter pilot in WWII and a POW in a British POW Camp.
Leon married Fran his "doll" on March 10, 1984. He leaves behind his wife, Fran; sons, Dante and wife Stephanie, Bally, PA; Stephen and wife Lisa, Maryville, TN and David and wife Jennifer, Dallas, TX; daughters, Linda and husband Ted Fairbanks, AK and Carla and husband Jason, Portsmouth, VA and 2 grandsons, Anthony and Douglas.
As an immigrant to the US in 1948 his relatives in Waterbury, Connecticut welcomed him and he quickly assimilated into the American culture. He was initially a plumber then moved on to repairing TVs and radios. He proudly became a US Citizen in 1955.
His electrical engineering career started with IBM in New York and he quickly moved up through several firms such as UNIVAC, Exxon, Comtech and was a Corporate Executive for Iomega. Upon retirement he published his memories in the book "One Grateful Immigrant". He was on the President''s National Advisory Counsel and College of Science Advancement Board at Weber State University.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1402 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to their medical scholarship program in memory of Leon Staciokas to Weber State University, 4018 University Circle, Ogden, Utah 84408.
