Leona Mae Goodenough, 85, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 24, 2023 in Ogden, UT.
She was born on July 15, 1937 to Willet “Slim” Francis and Cumah “Velma” Robinson in Richfield, ID.
Leona married Gary “Lucky” K. Goodenough in the winter of 1954 in Elko, NV. Leona and Lucky lived in Yuma, AZ for a few years before moving to Ogden where they spent the last 62 years.
How can you really summarize the life of the woman who meant everything to her family and whose family meant everything to her. She lived a long and happy life full of love with her husband of 69 years. Her favorite things in life were family, western music, horses, PB&J sandwiches, and gambling. But most of all she loved shooting the bull with Grandpa. She made cleaning house seem more fun than a chore, by singing and dancing while cleaning. She had a magic touch when it came to laundry. Getting the stains out, the freshest of smell, and most of all how she could get the whitest of whites. She was also the best babysitter a kid could ask for; she enjoyed babysitting grandkids, great grandkids, and foster kids over the years. She will be forever missed by all.
Leona is survived by her husband Gary “Lucky” K. Goodenough; 2 daughters, Glenda Jean Newey, Brenda Lee Weesies, and son Tony Goodenough; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons Clarence and Willet Goodenough, and daughter Lisa K. Luna.
