Leona "Lee" Christensen Saunders

Leona “Lee” Beatrice Christensen Saunders, 90, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Crestwood Care Center. She was born April 30, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, a daughter of Charles and Gertrude Everts Christensen. On June 20, 1936, Lee married Delroy Saunders in Ogden. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1995. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as a Primary teacher and was active in genealogy. Lee worked alongside her husband in the food service industry throughout their married life, and was last employed at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Ogden. Lee enjoyed knitting, crocheting, square dancing, and line dancing. The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Crestwood Care Center and her patient friends, especially Emma. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Neil (Sandra) Saunders, Sharon (Louis) Wade, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del, one daughter, Sheila Wood, her parents, five siblings and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 10th Ward Chapel, 125 East 5350 South with Bishop Richard Wade officiating.
