Leonard Carl Flocken was born January 18, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey to Louis and Anna Flocken. He passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on September 14, 2022 at the age of 87.
He was top of his high school class and graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Len served for four years as a pilot in the US Air Force and was in the reserve for six more years. Len was a missile systems engineer, and he designed the propulsion system for the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Module. He retired after 30 years from TRW Systems.
Len was married to Peggy for 53 years. Together they raised three children, had five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Len was an avid Bridge player, a fisherman, and a gardener.
A celebration of life will be held in his home on September 24, 2022 from 1 to 3 p.m.
