Leonard John Richards
Leonard Richards has gone fishing….
He departed 4-24-2014 from the U of U hospital in SLC. He was born 11-21-1942 in Ogden, UT the son of Alice Miller and Adolph Richards. He was raised by his mother and step-father LeRoy Stewart.
Leonard loved to fish and his horses. He always wanted to travel before his health became a problem. Leonard was a natural mechanic and loved to work on cars. He was a welder and diesel mechanic by trade. He loved his Native American heritage and spent hours researching his genealogy. Leonard was also an avid Jazz fan and loved the Friday night fights.
Leonard is survived by former wife Barbara K. Johnston (Lowe); a son Scott (Judy) Richards, (Roy, UT); a daughter Tracy Richards, (Mesa, AZ); grandchildren Jermaine (Josie) Kelly, Chandy Kelly, Scott Richards II; 2 step-grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Leonard is also survived by his sister Shirley Dean, (Ohio); and Brother Eddy Stewart, (Sunset, Utah) whom he deeply loved.
He was preceded in death by both parents and step father; brothers, Sam Stewart and David Stewart who looked out for dad and was everything a big brother should be; they had a deep bond. He is being met by his daughter and little angel …Marnie Lee Richards who was so dear to his heart.
HEY DAD WE LOVE YOU! Now you can saddle up and ride again.
The family would like to extend a great and sincere gratitude to all the nurses and Doctors at ORMC and U of U Hospitals for their dedication to the care of our Father through past years. Special thanks to Dr. Diehl for ensuring Dad received the best possible care available.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday May 1 st at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
