KAYSVILLE - Leora Covey Bennett passed away at her home, surrounded by family on Saturday, August 25, 2012.

Born in Ogden, Utah, October 14, 1919 to Louie Pauline and Le Roy Covey. She spent her early years in Ogden, attended Ogden schools, enjoyed picnics, swimming in the river, and spending time with friends.

She married Golden Bennett on June 20, 1941. They resided in Kaysville for the rest of their lives.

She was a talented artist, poet, pianist and organist.

She loved to do ceramics, and a variety of crafts. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Her home was the gathering place for family and friends.

As a member of the LDS Church she held many positions in the Relief Society, Primary, Young Womens, Sunday school, and played piano for many meetings.

For many years she volunteered and attended the Autumn Glow Senior Center and was recognized for 26 years of faithful service. She was a member of the "Daughters of the Utah Pioneers", and was proud of her pioneer heritage.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her four children: Daughters, Carolyn Sparks, Lou Jean (Ronald) Thompson, Linda (Steven) Black, son Golden F. (Barbara) Bennett, 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sisters: Mary Pinnell, Donna Jacobsen, special niece Gloria Johnson, and nephew Roy Holden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Violet Schurz, grandson Steven Black Jr., and son-in-law Morton Sparks.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family on Thursday one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family offers special thanks to Access Hospice for the care mom received in her final days.
